Post 2: Wildfires
Wildfires are a huge part of the “land” section because of how detrimental they are to land. For those of you who may not know, wildfires are a large destructive fire that spread quickly around woodland or brush. Wildfires can be caused by many reasons. They can start naturally. Fires are usually started by unusually long-lasting hot lightning bolts. Hot lightening has currents with less voltage than cold currents, but these occur for a longer period of time. However, 85 percent of wildfires are caused by humans in the United States. If you read my last blog post, you would see the pattern of how we, humans mess up our own environment or our own land. Some examples of how humans cause wildfires is from campfires left unattended, the burning of debris, equipment use and malfunctions, negligently discarded cigarettes, and intentional acts of arson. At the end of the day, a lot of stuff that happens can be prevented if we just be careful and pay attention to what we do. A wildfire can take a extremely long time to put out and is extremely bad to the environment. Leaving trees burned, animals losing there homes, animals dying and possibly going extinct. This can mess up the food chain, the burning of trees obviously causes us to have less oxygen and so on. All in all, this can be prevented if we just be mindful of the little things we do, which in reality turns into larger problems like wildfires.

I totally agree with this because it could definitely destroy habitats and it even causes air pollution. Definitely very interesting because I didn't even think about how long it can actually take to put them out. I really like the article and I can tell that this is a very seriously thing. I also like how you said it could mess up their food chain. That's another thing, that didn't really cross my mind.
