Deforestation in the Usa
As you can guess from the word, deforestation means clearing of
forest by humans. Estimates of deforestation traditionally are based
on the area of forest cleared for human use, including removal of the
trees for wood product and for croplands.
Sometimes fires change the structure of the forest dramatically.
75% of forests have disappeared since 1600.
Causes
As always, one cause is money: people who live in forested areas
receive offers of money to let their land logged. Even an area that
doesn't have a lot of trees can produce a lot of wood for experienced
loggers. Now the landowner has a lot of cleared acres, that
can sell to developers for new housing complexes.
Another cause is agriculture: a landowner can use the cleared land to
plant crops.
Also invasive plants and insect can be a cause of deforestation,
because they kill the trees
Effects of Deforestation
Obviously, the deforestation has an impact on the climate, because
trees produce oxygen, so the more destruction to the world's forests,
the less oxygen is re-released into the air.
But it has an impact also on the climate changing because the carbon
dioxide cannot be removed from the atmosphere.
Deforestation destroys also natural habitats for animals, that have to
find a new place to live, and it usually means cities
Good survey of these causes. And yes, sometimes "natural" causes, like the pine bark beetle, though even that critter has made gains because of climate change

Animals are all to often forced form their homes because of our greedy use of the land and trees. These areas are destroyed to make room for more humans and their greed.
